for iOS 15 – iOS 15.4.1
Fugu15, a jailbreak solution for iOS 15, was introduced by Linus Hanze as an open-source project on GitHub. As it's a rootless jailbreak, many tweaks may require updates for compatibility, and it currently doesn't support tweaks until the libhooker update.
The revelation of Fugu15 Jailbreak at the Objective by the See Conference provided significant inspiration for jailbreak developers. Linus detailed how to jailbreak iOS 15.4.1 despite the latest security enhancements, and how to bypass some new mitigations incorporated in iOS 15.2.
A fascinating Fugu15 demo showcased an unconventional method for installing the Fugu15 app on an A12+ device through Safari mobile browser. Linus used the Apple Developer app as a placeholder for Fugu15 Jailbreak, explaining its execution process.
This app injection approach is already employed by TrollStore IPA installer for iOS 15 to simplify the installation for arm64e devices running iOS 14.0 to 15.4b4. Now, users can install TrollStore on A12-A15 devices directly from Safari without command-line tools.
Currently, Fugu15 Jailbreak installs the Procursus bootstrap and Sileo as the default package manager, something that jailbreak users typically need. However, the jailbreak does not yet support tweaks, and it primarily serves as a demonstration.
Once Fugu15 is released, there's potential for the community to develop a fully-featured iOS 15 jailbreak for both developers and regular users. This would be the first public jailbreak to support A12+ devices on iOS 15.
Currently, the only public iOS 15 jailbreak is Palera1n. This tethered jailbreak, based on checkm8, boots the device with AMFI patches. On its first run, it boots a ramdisk, dumps your onboard blob, and installs Sileo and Substitute, enabling tweaks on iOS 15.0 to 15.7.1 (iPhone 6S to iPhone X) without needing to wait for Cheyote Jailbreak.
Fugu15's open source nature enabled Lars Fröder to create Fugu15 Max Jailbreak, now supporting tweaks. This jailbreak, compatible with iOS 15 to 15.4.1, employs the ellekit tweak injection library and provides a robust feature set. Fugu15 Max is stable, but its use is currently recommended mainly for tweak developers.
Setting Up Sileo on Fugu15:
Once your device is jailbroken, installing the Sileo package manager on Fugu15 jailbreak is a smart move. There's no need for a PC — the installation process can be carried out directly on your device. Consistent with all Fugu jailbreaks, Fugu15 comes bundled with iDownload. Accessible on port 1337, the iDownload shell is utilized to download and install Sileo and Procursus Bootstrap on your device.
